Former Chief Operating Officer at Tata Motors and a Product Design Specialist in automobiles, consumer electronics, home appliances, computers and telecommunications, Dr Suresh Namboothiri is a highly sought-after professional interviewer for senior positions in Engineering and Management.
A well-known resource person for FDPs on OBE, Critical and Creative Thinking, Dr Suresh Namboothiri, a designer and developer of 200+ products with over 30 years of industry experience is also the founder of Espoir Technologies, Pune. He has worked with engineers from 8 countries
Dr Achuthsankar S Nair:
A distinguished Professor of Computer Science, and head of the Department of Computational Science and Bioinformatics at the University of Kerala, Dr Achuthsankar S Nair holds a B Tech in Electrical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, M Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Mumbai, and an M Phil in Computer Speech & Language from University of Cambridge.
He has held various notable positions which include Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science & Technology, Director of the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology under the Government of Kerala, and Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Centre for International Academics at the University of Kerala
Dr Mendus Jacob:
Professor & Director, MCA, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous)
A former Director of the School of Applicable Mathematics, MG University, an Academician and an Entrepreneur with 30+ years of experience, Dr Mendus Jacob is a well-known resource person for FDPs in OBE, NEP and Accreditation.
Dr Mendus is also the MD & CEO of ipsr solutions limited – an IT Company supporting Higher Education Institutes in implementing Outcome Based Education and Innovative Teaching-Learning and Assessment strategies.
Dr Sunil Job KA:
Adjunct Faculty, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) and Chief of Academics, ipsr solutions limited.
An Academician well-versed in OBE and a resource person for National Conferences at FDPs, Dr Sunil Job with 30+ years of experience in teaching and 10+ years in Corporate Consultancy is the Associate Professor at MG University, College of Teacher Education since 1999.
A resource person for several FDPs in OBE, Data Science, E-Learning etc., Dr Sunil has served as Visiting Team Member of NCTE for ‘Grant of Recognition’ and as a resource person for the Affiliation Renewal Committee of MG University.

Day 1: 19 July 2023
The first-day session of the Faculty Development Programme on ‘ChatGPT & AI Tools for Educators, in line with OBE’, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St Joseph’s College Autonomous, Irinjalakuda in association ala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) commenced at 2.00 PM on the 19 July 2023
Dr Sr Siji P D, Principal, St Joseph’s College Autonomous, Irinjalakuda, who is a visionary advocate for education with a remarkable leadership style which combines compassion, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence delivered the Welcome Speech.
Dr Rajan Varughese, Member Secretary, KSHEC and the former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam delivered the Inaugural Address.
Dr Mendus Jacob, Director, MCA, Marian College Kuttikanam Autonomous, an academician and an entrepreneur with over 35 years of expertise in the education sector gave away the Introductory Remarks. Dr Mendus is the former Director of the School of Applicable Mathematics, at MG University.

Day 2: 20 July 2023
Dr Suresh Namboothiri, the resource person for day-2 conducted an informative and exciting session on the topic Using ChatGPT for Class Preparation and Using ChatGPT for Providing Instructional Assistance. During the session, Dr Namboothiri explained in detail the various usages of ChatGPT for Class Preparation.
After the completion of the session by Dr Suresh Namboothiri, Mr Siby Linson, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, St Joseph’s College Autonomous, Irinjalakuda gave away the Word of Thanks.
After the completion of the day-2 session, two tasks were assigned to the participants to check the depth of knowledge they had got while attending the session.
Day 3: 21 July 2023
Two separate sessions, Using ChatGPT for Providing Instructional Assistance and Using ChatGPT to Help Students Practice Critical Thinking were included on day-3. The first session ‘Important Aspects of Education and How ChatGPT Will Affect It’ was handled by Dr Achuthsankar S Nair, Professor of Computer Science & Head of the Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. The second session, handled by Dr Suresh Namboothiri was the continuation of the previous day’s session.
Ms Sonima KK, Assistant Professor, Department of English & IQAC Core Team Member, St Joseph’s College, Autonomous, Irinjalakuda delivered the Word of Thanks.
Two new tasks were assigned to the participants after the day-3 session to check the depth of knowledge they had obtained from the session.
Day 4: 22 July 2023
The entire session of day-4 was taken by Dr Suresh Namboothiri on the topics Using ChatGPT to Build Creativity in Subject Discipline, and Using ChatGPT for Creating Assessments.
The Word of Thanks for the day was delivered by Ms Mary Gisby Paulose, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, St Joseph’s College Autonomous, Irinjalakuda.
After completion of the day-4 session, the participants were given two new tasks for completion.
Day 5: 24 July 2023
The entire session of day-5 handled by Dr Suresh Namboothiri was the continuation of the day-4 session. Dr Suresh explained the topics using various examples which helped the participants grasp the points easily.
After the completion of the fifth-day session by Dr Suresh Namboothiri, Dr Della Therese Davis, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and IQAC Core Team Member delivered the Word of thanks to the participants and the organisers.
Similar to the previous days, two new tasks were assigned after the completion of the session to the participants to check their knowledge and strength about the topic.
Day 6: 25 July 2023
The sixth day’s session was entirely handled by Dr Suresh Namboothiri as a continuation to the previous day’s topic in which he covered the topics Using ChatGPTto Help Students Face Examinations and Various Ways for Students to Use ChatGPT.
The session concluded with the Word of Thanks by Rincy Pulikkottil, Assistant Professor, Department of Costume & Fashion Designing, St Joseph’s College, Autonomous, Irinjalakuda.
Day 7: 26 July 2023
On the seventh and final day of the Faculty Development Programme, Dr Suresh Namboothiri continued the session based on the topics, Using ChatGPT for Computer Programming and Diverse uses of ChatGPT in Education.
The Valedictory Function commenced after the session by Dr Suresh Namboothiri.
Valedictory Function:
The informative session by Dr Suresh Namboothiri on the various usages of ChatGPT was followed by the Valedictory function. Dr Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council and former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam delivered a message about Artificial Intelligence and its influence in day-to-day life.

The overall response from the participants regarding the Faculty Development Programme ‘ChatGPT and AI Tools for Educators, in line with OBE, showed that most participants could gather considerable knowledge in the subject. While most of them are happy to have attended the sessions, some have felt that unique topics are being covered over the days. Majority of participants have expressed their desire to have further informative sessions to improve their knowledge.
