This Institutional Level Training was organized by the Faculty Development Centre, Kerala State Higher Education Council, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Spread across five days, ie; on September 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 27th. This was a training hands-on program, where the participants had to undergo online training, where they experienced live online sessions backed by activities and assessments through the Learning Management Portal (LMS).
On completion of this training, the participants were able to demonstrate the following skills
September 22nd was the inauguration ceremony which commenced at 5 pm, inaugurated by Dr. R Bindu (Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education ) in the presence of Dr. Raj Gurukal, Vice Chairman, Kerala Higher Education Council. And Dr. Saji Gopinath, Vice-Chancellor of Digital University Kerala,
Dr. Mendus Jacob, with around 200+ participants. It was then followed by a session on how to create Moodle site and account management taken by Dr. Sunil Job K. A Adjunct Faculty and formerly Principal in-charge, M.G. University College of Teacher Education Specialist in Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Bloom’s Taxonomy, Data Analytics and Visualization, Machine Learning, and Research Methodology, Ph.D. in Mathematical Education, Academician with 25+ years of experience.
On September 23rd, a session on Sharing resources, folders, video, URL, Log management along with assignment activities and quizzes was taken by Dr. Sunil Job K.A, Adjunct Faculty and formerly Principal in-charge, M.G. University College of Teacher EducationSpecialist in Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Bloom’s Taxonomy, Data Analytics and Visualization, Machine Learning, and Research Methodology.
September 24th, the session was taken by Dr. Mendus Jacob explaining the other features of LMS such as peer evaluation, workshops, discussion forums, and other interesting applications like Mentimeter and Padlet., followed by a session on Lesson activity by Ms. Kochumol Abraham, MCA, M. Tech (IT), M Phil (CS), Assistant Professor, PG Department of Computer Applications, Marian College, Kuttikanam and 15 years of teaching experience, Published papers in National and International Journals and done a UGC funded research project Area of Interests: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
On Day 4, ie: September 25th, a session on Blogs, chat, attendance management, Learning technology interoperability (LTI), Feedback, and certificate was taken by Dr. Binu Thomas, Associate Professor at Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) and Joint Director of Marian Institute for Innovative Teaching-Learning and Evaluation (MIITLE), Head – Quality Assurance Cell, Marian College Kuttikkanam, an Academician with 20 + years of experience
The last of Let’s Go digital, on September 27th, was on Video Content Creation, Editing and Optimization and YouTube channel creation and content promotion by Dr. Sunil Job, followed by a session on Way forward and Case studies by Dr. Mendus Jacob, and concluding talk by Dr. Raj Gurukal.
The session ended with interaction among the participants, using Mentimeter where different questions were asked:
The graph shows how efficient the participants were before the webinar, with 53% new to Moodle, 38% knowing little about using Moodle, and 8 % having good knowledge, and 1% expert in using moodle.
By the end of the webinar, this percentage increased to 63%, having good knowledge in using moodle.
Around 400 plus teachers from Government and Aided colleges, participated in FDP.
93.5% of the participants rate the sessions conducted as highly informative and 93.4% of participants rated the quality of knowledge as good and useful. 35% of the participants had an opinion that the activities were most useful. And 98% of the participants were satisfied with the program.
